Police Chief Rahinsky’s Youth Advisory Council, “IMPACT”, is now open for enrollment!

Who can participate? Any high school student living in the City of Grand Rapids is eligible to participate.  Chief Rahinsky encourages those who wish to participate to have an active interest in building police/community relationships as well as be open to dialogue on current law enforcement issues.  Participation will be limited to 25 students.  Chief Rahinsky values the importance of after school activities.  Therefore, it is not a prerequisite for 100% attendance.  However, students are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible to ensure a successful program.
What is IMPACT? A group of volunteer high school students who will meet with Chief Rahinsky on a monthly basis to discuss trending law enforcement issues.
Where will we meet? All meetings will be held at the Grand Rapids Police Department:
    Grand Rapids Police Department
    01 Monroe Center NW
    Grand Rapids, MI 49503

When will we meet? Monthly-First Wednesday of every month January, 2018-June, 2018, held after school. Bus passes will be provided to those students without transportation.  Validation to city ramps will be provided for those that choose to drive.

Why IMPACT? Chief Rahinsky wants to hear from our community’s young adults to gain a better understanding of their experiences and perspectives.  It is his goal to broaden the range of communication so that he can make better informed decisions on how to best serve the community.  Today’s young adults have strong minds, desires and goals.  Through this program, Chief Rahinsky will now give them a strong voice!
