The City of Grand Rapids is moving forward with a major forestry initiative aimed at maximizing public safety and reducing long-term tree maintenance costs. Based on a street, park and cemetery tree inventory completed in late 2016, the City plans to address all trees identified by the inventory as Priority 1 for removal or pruning.

The tree inventory identified 85,185 total street, park and cemetery trees, including 1,558 deemed Priority 1 for removal and 1,479 deemed Priority 1 for pruning. We're working side by side with contracted tree services to handle
all of the Priority 1 removals.
