    Mt. Vernon at Fulton Closure Study

    Grand Valley State University and the City of Grand Rapids are partnering to study the effects of closing the south side of the Mt. Vernon and Fulton intersection as shown in the image below. The low-cost study will help inform future campus planning and transportation decisions. 

    Anticipated benefits from this closure include:
    • opportunities to improve the pedestrian and bicycling experience at Fulton and Mt. Venron, which is a major future Laker Line bus rapid transit stop.
      reduced pedestrian, bicyclist, and vehicle conflicts between GVSU buildings.
    • channelized vehicle movements through the area.

    Tentative Study Schedule

    Closure Installation: December 16, 2017

    Study Period: December 16, 2017 - May 2018

    The closure will include concrete barricades on the south side of Mt. Vernon and Fulton with road closure signs and no outlet signs. The Grand Valley parking lots will be accessible from Watson via Winter or Front, as shown in the image below.
