    The Community Development Department is building great neighborhoods in partnership with community organizations. It does this by supporting housing and community development activities through the Neighborhood Investment Plan.


     


     

    NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND COMMENT
    ON THE FY 2015 ANNUAL ACTION PLAN
      
    The City of Grand Rapids Community Development Department announces the availability of the draft FY 2015 Housing and Community Development Annual Action Plan that identifies planned activities and the allocation of resources for the program year July 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015.  The Annual Action Plan describes the anticipated allocation of $5,840,485 of federal funds that consists of:
     

    Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

    $4,350,000

    HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME)

    1,109,000

    Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG)

    297,583

    Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)

    82,902

     
    General activities proposed for funding include, but are not limited to, housing rehabilitation and minor home repair, homeowner and renter housing assistance, code enforcement, crime prevention, neighborhood leadership and civic engagement, and fair housing.
     
    The Annual Action Plan will be available for public review and comment from March 21, 2014 through April 21, 2014.  A public hearing for citizen input will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 300 Monroe Avenue, NW.
     
    Comments may be made at the public hearing or submitted in writing to the Community Development Department prior to 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2014.  The Annual Action Plan may be viewed during normal business hours at the Community Development Department, 300 Monroe Avenue, NW, Suite 460, or on-line here: FY 2015 Draft Annual Action Plan​.

    Programmatic Agreements between the Michigan State Historic Preservation Officer
    and the City of Grand Rapids

    A public hearing will be held to receive comment on the effect of activities funded through certain federal programs on the character of properties included in or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.  The hearing will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 300 Monroe Avenue, NW.  Comments may be made at the public hearing or submitted in writing prior to 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2014.  Click here​ for additional information about this comment opportunity.
