    Workforce Diversity

    The City of Grand Rapids is committed to providing employees, at all levels, a working environment that celebrates and encourages diversity. A diverse workforce allows the City of Grand Rapids to better serve our community.


    The Office of Workforce Diversity provides technical assistance to managers and supervisors regarding a variety of employment related issues including but not limited to: Americans with Disability Act (ADA) reasonable accommodations, employment opportunities and recruiting, and interviewing.


    On an annual basis, the Office of Workforce Diversity provides a comprehensive analysis of the employment activities of the City in the past fiscal year. This “Annual Report on Workforce Diversity” identifies the opportunities for diversity achievements that the City had in the previous fiscal year, analyzes the hiring, promotion and turnover activity of the City by department and service group and provides recommendations for improvement to the administration of the City.
